The Love Filter

The Love Filter is a principal the Lord has given as a prerequisite to understanding the nature of God, that we may accurately interpret His Word. It is an absolute truth that causes deception to be trapped and filtered out of our perception of God. These are the foundational scriptures upon which the Love Filter is based.

1 John 4:7

Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is born of God and knows God 8But anyone who does not love does not know God – for God is love.(NLT)

Love is the first thing we need to know about God. It is the foundation, the first of who and what God is and it is the basis of everything He created. Love is what moves Him to do the lovely things he does and it is His only motivation. Knowing that God is love is of the utmost importance and it is equally significant that we understand what the definition of love is.

1 Corinthians 13

4Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily. 5It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God’s love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong]. 6It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail. 7Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening]. 8Love never fails…(Amp)

The Lord gave me this statement. All scripture must be interpreted in the absolute knowledge of this truth, that God is love. To understand what love is and knowing that God is love is to begin to comprehend the nature of God. Which plays a vital part in how we view God. If we do not understand that God is absolutely and only love, we will misunderstand His Word. Which will cause us to think wrong thoughts about God, therefore not understanding His methods and motives. People often blame God for bad things that happen. He is never responsible for the bad things that happen to us. According to the book of James only good and perfect gifts can come from God. In fact the Father has done everything necessary for us to avoid the curse and all that comes with it. This is the first part of the Love Filter.

The second part is found in Genesis 1.

Genesis 1 12

And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good. 21And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

24And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so. 25And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good. 26And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. 27So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. 28And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. (KJV)

We see in these verses that everything God has created can only produce after its own kind. Everything is created through a seed and can only produce whatever is inside that seed. The plant life, the sea life, the insect life, the animal life, and human life, can only reproduce after its own kind. God has established this from the very beginning through the law of sowing and reaping; whatever is inside a seed is what it will produce. So this is the definition of the Love Filter: God is love and good, therefore only good and lovely things can come from Him. You can’t get anything evil or bad from God because it isn’t in Him to begin with. Jesus said the same thing in the following scripture; whatever is inside of a man’s heart is what will come out of him.

Luke 6: 45

The upright (honorable, intrinsically good) man out of the good treasure [stored] in his heart produces what is upright (honorable and intrinsically good), and the evil man out of the evil storehouse brings forth that which is depraved (wicked and intrinsically evil); for out of the abundance (overflow) of the heart his mouth speaks. (AMP)

In the same way only good can come from God, only evil can come from the devil. Jesus came that we would have life more abundantly and the devil came to steal, kill and destroy. So when you are reading the Word you keep that absolute truth over the Word like a filter. If God does not look like the love we see described in (1 Co.13: 4-7AMP) then your interpretation of the scripture or your perception of God is inaccurate and you haven’t comprehended the truth of the goodness and love of God. God is good and only good can come from Him. Here is an example of how to use the Love Filter. I have heard this statement said before. Truth brings controversy. Let us examine this statement through the Love Filter. Truth has a seed and comes from God. Truth is good, holy, and righteous therefore it can only bring a harvest of goodness, holiness, and righteousness. Jesus said, “And you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.” It’s the people who don’t know the truth that bring controversy, and that lack of truth is a breeding ground for deception. Truth brings freedom not controversy. Since knowing the truth will set you free, then not knowing the truth will bring bondage, which is ultimately deception and controversy. Where there is strife there is division, controversy, deception, confusion and every evil work. Where there is truth there is power, love and soundness of mind, (freedom).

Once you begin to look at everything through the Love Filter you will begin to see more clearly the nature of God and the nature of the gifts that comes from Him. It will become easy for you to distinguish between good and evil
